SECONDARY SUB-SCHOOL
Year 7 & 8 - Koroit Campus
At Hume Valley School, our Years 7 and 8 program provides a supportive and highly individualised learning environment that continues to build on each student’s strengths, needs, and aspirations.
Students engage in a broad curriculum aligned with the Victorian Curriculum F–10, with a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, personal and social capability, digital technologies, physical education, the arts, and life skills. Specialist programs, therapeutic supports, and assistive technologies are used to further personalise learning and maximise student engagement and success.
Importantly, students begin their Career Action Planning journey in Year 7, setting early goals around their interests, strengths, and future pathways. Through hands-on learning experiences, community programs, and vocational exploration, students develop the confidence, skills, and independence needed to actively shape their own futures.
The Years 7 and 8 program lays the foundation for students to thrive in their secondary years, building their capabilities for meaningful post-school pathways.
Year 9 - Koroit Campus
At Hume Valley School, the Year 9 program is designed to further personalise learning and deepen student engagement as they move closer to their senior secondary years.
Students continue to build essential skills in literacy, numeracy, personal development, and vocational learning, supported by a highly tailored curriculum and a range of therapeutic, wellbeing, and transition supports.
Career Action Planning becomes more focused in Year 9, with students revisiting and updating their goals, exploring new career interests, and beginning to map out the steps towards their future. They engage in practical career exploration activities, community-based learning opportunities, and work skills development, helping them form a clear sense of purpose and motivation.
In Year 9, we also begin preparing students for their transition into the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) in Year 10. Students are introduced to the expectations and skills needed for success in the VPC, including building independence, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
Our dedicated staff work closely with students and families to ensure students stay connected, motivated, and optimistic about their future, providing the right supports and pathways to help every student succeed.
