PRIMARIES & MIDDLES SUB-SCHOOL
Grade 3 & 4 – Narrun Campus
At Hume Valley School, our Grade 3 and 4 curriculum continues to build on the foundations of early learning through highly individualised programs that align with the Victorian Curriculum F–10 and cater to the diverse needs of our students.
In these middle primary years, we focus on strengthening students’ skills in literacy, numeracy, personal and social capabilities, and communication, while fostering independence, confidence and curiosity. Learning is supported through small group instruction, visual supports, assistive technologies, and a multidisciplinary team including therapists and wellbeing staff.
Hands-on, engaging activities—integrated with real-life contexts—support student growth across all areas of development, with an emphasis on structured routines, social skill building, and functional learning to prepare students for increasing independence in upper primary and beyond.
Grade 5 & 6 – Narrun Campus
At Hume Valley School, our Grade 5 and 6 programs continue to deliver highly individualised learning tailored to each student's strengths, needs, and goals, while aligning with the Victorian Curriculum F–10.
In these senior primary years, students consolidate their skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and personal and social development, supported by targeted interventions, assistive technology, and specialist programs such as STEAM, wellbeing, physical education, and vocational skills. There is a strong focus on building independence, resilience, and self-advocacy, preparing students for the next phase of their education journey.
Our Grade 6 students are supported through a structured transition program that helps them successfully move to our Koroit Avenue Campus for Year 7. This includes orientation sessions, individual transition plans, and close collaboration with families and support teams to ensure students feel confident, connected, and ready for the exciting challenges of secondary learning.
